About Us

As Singapore’s only culinary academy, at-sunrice has enrolled students from 25 different countries since it was founded in 2001. Its rigorous work and study curricular has contributed over 630,000 man hours to the F&B industry in Singapore. Over the last two years, most of its graduates were offered jobs before graduation, with some securing work in the U.S.A., Australia, U.A.E. and Singapore in some of the world's most respected establishments including five star resorts and six star hotels. Graduates employed at chef de partie level (being equivalent to supervisor in the kitchen brigade), are drawing as much as AUS$4,500 a month.

This unique graduate placement exercise happens at TalentMatch – Singapore’s only culinary career fair. Happening on 27th June 2007, this event focusing on at-sunrice’s “Best Fit” concept connects five star hotels, fine dining restaurants, global food services and international head hunters to its growing pool of qualified and trained aspiring GlobalChefs©. TalentMatch is also an excellent platform for industry forum, where executive chefs, general managers, directors and chief executives share feedback, concerns and hospitality trends.

The school currently offers a total of 5 courses, 2 of which are aligned to the F&B WSQ Certificate in F&B Service, Certificate Food Preparation, Higher and Advanced Certificates in Culinary Skills specializing in Western or Bakery and Pastry. at-sunrice works with an array of top partners including five star hotels, fine dining restaurants, global food service operators and regional healthcare institutions - pioneering Singapore's first synchronized Work & Study curricular.

at-sunrice has a mission to develop global chefs by delivering formal education in East and West, Herbs and Spices, Old and New World cuisines, providing Work and Study rotations at top hotels, restaurants and luxury homes.

We help food service providers and food manufacturers improve their product and business yields through research of food preparation and consumption. We create culinary and sensory experiences for enjoyment and education.

We select partners who actively endorse our vision and champion our students’ success.

Students from more than 25 countries such as Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Colombia, Dubai, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, Nepal, Panama, Peru, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, U.S.A., and other countries, have come to learn at-sunrice.

Work and Study
We believe that in culinary arts education, the best pedagogy is a work and study synchronization. Students gain a real commercial experience when they apprentice with top chefs and establishments. Studying at-sunrice with well-traveled and qualified chef educators provide students with great aspirations. at-sunrice employs careful selection of apprentice sites to sustain students’ motivation and success.

Education Philosophy
The at-sunrice culinary arts education is creative and career-oriented. Western and Asian professors, master chefs and executive chefs from all over the world teach alongside at-sunrice’s own faculty of ethnic teaching chefs providing a strong foundation in culinary techniques, ethnic cuisines and culture, leadership, finance, marketing, human resource management and personal growth. 
 
Industry Savvy
The at-sunrice diploma is more than working in the kitchens; graduates can pursue food research, food service management or be their own boss in fine dining restaurant business. We take pride in matching our graduates’ placement to ensure a good start in their career paths. Many of our students are hired before they graduate, often by the chefs who have mentored them during the apprentice period. Many are also recruited by top establishments and properties in the world. Our recent graduates are earning as much as AUSS$4,500 a month in Australia. We thank our partners and mentor chefs who champion our students’ success.
