WSQ Diploma in Tourism

What is the objective of the programme?

  • To provide professional development opportunities for those who are either new or have been working in the hospitality industry.

    Participants will be able to:

    - Understand the organization and operation of the hospitality industry.
    - Analyze the organization of hospitality marketing functions and programs.
    - Analyze, synthesize, and evaluate trends in international hospitality marketing in a global market place
    - Identify the engineering and maintenance requirements of the hospitality industry with special emphasis on environmental issues, modernization, building operating systems, and resource management.
    - Develop procedures for human resource management including performance appraisal for employees and managers in the hospitality industry.
    - Understand the techniques in planning, developing, and conducting human resource development programs in hospitality firms.
    - Formulate special programs on hotel operations relating to Customer Relationship Management, and IT operations.

How does it work?

The WSQ Diploma in Tourism programme is a eight-month programme. Students will meet 3 times a week, with classes on Tuesday & Thursday evenings and Saturday morning.

Upon successful completion of the programme, trainee will receive the WSQ Diploma in Tourism under the Tourism WSQ Framework.

What is the course structure?

Courses will be conducted in the form of lectures, discussions, demonstrations, case-studies, practical exercises, role plays, internship and assessments.

Do I qualify?

Applicant must possess minimum GCE "O" levels qualifications or ESS Workplace Literacy and Numeracy Level 5.

Who is eligible for the funding?

WDA will provide funding for applicants who meet the following criteria:
  • New entrants into the hospitality  industry
  • Current industry professionals seeking to upgrade their skills
  • Individuals seeking career transition opportunities

Applicants must be:

  • Singapore Citizens or Permanent Residents
  • Complete full training and pass all training assessments
  • Achieve at least 75% attendance and sit for all assessments
  • Work within the hospitality industry for six months upon completion of the programme
  • Meet WDA's and UNLV's entry requirements
  • All applicants have to undergo a selection interview
